Uncle. Old eurasian word, close to ata, aita "father" (alternance a/o). In amerindian toto, toti "uncle" together with tata "farher", cf. Esher Matteson, Comparative studies in Amerindian languages, La Haye/Paris, 1972, Indiana Univ. Series, n°897, p. 86. In Larribar (LN-Mixe) oito (N. Moutard, La Lingusitique 9, 1973-2, p. 108/109). Japanese oto "father, uncle".
Tío. Palabra eurasiana antigua, cerca de ata, aita "padre" (alternancia a/o). En amerindio toto, toti "tío" al lado de tata "padre", cf. Esher Matteson, Comparative studies in Amerindian languages, La Haye/Paris, 1972, Indiana Univ. Series, n° 897, p. 86. En Larribar (BN-Mixe) oito (N. Moutard, La Linguistique 9, 1973-2, p. 108/109. Japonés oto "padre, tío".
